Electrical Cost Estimating for Design Professionals Across Alaska
Early-phase electrical cost projections based on program data, comparable projects, and preliminary design documents. Ideal for SD-level budgeting, funding applications, and go/no-go decisions.
Detailed quantity-based estimates aligned with design development and construction document phases. Includes full material takeoffs, labor analysis, and Alaska-specific pricing for equipment, freight, and installation.
Systematic review of electrical documents to identify missing scope, coordination gaps between disciplines, and constructability concerns before they become costly field issues. Delivered as a clear, actionable report.
Third-party electrical budget review to verify contractor bids, validate project budgets, and provide owners and architects with an independent cost opinion. Critical for public projects, institutional work, and competitive bid environments.
Cost-driven analysis of electrical systems to identify alternatives that reduce cost without compromising performance, code compliance, or design intent. Includes material substitutions, system simplifications, and phasing strategies.
Ongoing cost tracking and change order analysis throughout a project lifecycle. Helps design teams and owners understand the electrical cost impact of design revisions, scope changes, and field conditions.
We review drawings, specifications, and project narratives, apply current labor and material data with Alaska-specific adjustments, and deliver clear, auditable estimates aligned with your design intent and project phase.

Daniel Perrien has been working in Alaska construction since he was twelve years old. That hands-on start led to a career spanning residential builds, mining operations, oilfield work, and industrial projects across the state—and eventually to founding Northern Lights Electrical Estimating to serve the design professionals who build Alaska.
Daniel holds a degree in Journalism and Photography from the University of Alaska Anchorage and worked in television news as a reporter and producer. That background gave him something uncommon in the estimating world: the ability to analyze complex information quickly and communicate it clearly—skills that show up in every estimate he delivers.
His field experience runs deep. On the North Slope, he performed well intervention work with oilfield services leader Schlumberger and later oversaw contractors and operations at a Grind and Inject facility with M-I SWACO. He spent several years working underground at both Pogo Gold Mine and Hecla Greens Creek Mine, performing construction projects, installing utilities, operating heavy equipment, and training new miners.
He later trained and worked as a Project Estimator at HMS Estimating LLC in Anchorage, refining his ability to translate drawings, specifications, and field conditions into clear and reliable cost projections.
His approach combines technical precision with real-world experience to deliver estimates that are clear, defensible, and practical.
Outside of work, Daniel enjoys spending time with family, road trips, flying drones, and exploring Alaska's outdoors—staying closely connected to the people, projects, and landscapes that continue to shape his work.
